Spirit Food - November 2019

Let's be thankful for our redemption from the curse of the law.

1 Chronicles 16:29-34

29 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come before him. Worship the Lord in holy splendor;

30 tremble before him, all the earth. The world is firmly established; it shall never be moved.

31 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice, and let them say among the nations, “The Lord is king!”

32 Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it.

33 Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.

34 O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.

Having an attitude of gratitude and giving thanks to the Lord shows Him that we are looking to Him and His goodness, instead of focusing on the negatives this world is throwing our way. In doing this we are putting our faith in Christ to help us, and to give us the grace to make it through anything we are currently going through.

Hold up your index finger and say: One thing is important, and that is to focus on His love for us. Everything else in life, will come when He takes first place in your life. Move forward from today keeping your focus on His love for you.

We need to have an “Attitude of gratitude”, as Ephesians 5:29-30 says: “For no one ever hates his own body, but he nourishes and tenderly cares for it, just as Christ does for the church, 30 because we are members of his body.”

We need to have an “Attitude of gratitude”, as 1 John 4:17 says: “Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgment, because as he is, so are we in this world.”

  • Our Heavenly Father sees us as perfect because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross in redeeming us!

  • The New Covenant in Hebrews 8:10 says: “For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.”

We need to have an “Attitude of gratitude”, as 2 Corinthians 3:18 says: “And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.”

  • We see Jesus in the Word of God! And when we receive His love and grace, we being transformed into the same image, from glory to glory to glory, by following the leading of the Holy Spirit within.

  • We no longer have to have such low valleys!

When you look in a mirror, what do you see? Of course, you see yourself. But God does not want you to see yourself in the natural. You may be sick, weak, broke and depressed; whereas, God wants you to see yourself the way He sees you - healed, strong, favored and whole because Christ is in you

Colossians 1:27 says: “To them (us believers) God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”

God wants you to behold as in a mirror, the glory of His Son who is in you by His Holy Spirit. As you do this, His Word says that you are being transformed from glory to glory – sick to healed, loser to winner!

The world may say to you, “It can’t be that easy. You can’t be transformed just by beholding the glory of Jesus. No, you must do something about you. If you don’t put in effort, nothing will happen. If you don’t start making changes, nothing will change.”

But the world will never understand, unless we share the gospel with them, that as you are beholding the glory of the Lord, who is the successful one in you, you are being transformed from a failure to a success. And this is not accomplished by any effort of yours to get ahead in life, but by the Spirit of the Lord! Zechariah 4:6 says: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, says the Lord of hosts.” This also applies to us today, as Acts 10:24 says: “… God is not a respecter of persons:”

Proverbs 17:22 says: “A cheerful heart is a good medicine, but a downcast spirit dries up the bones.”

Proverbs 15:13 says: “A glad heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is broken.”

As you behold the glory of the Lord who is the healthy one in your sick body, you are transformed from sickness to health. And this is not accomplished by any effort of yours to keep fit and eat well, but by the Spirit of the Lord!

Yes, we should eat a healthy diet and exercise properly, being good stewards to this temple of the living God He has provided us. But realize that we live in a fallen world and it is only by His grace, mercy, and favor that we are blessed!

Church, what can be easier than beholding the beauty of the Jesus? So stop focusing on yourself and your efforts. Look away from these things and begin to behold the glory of Jesus who is in you right now, and you will begin to behold the miracles that you need!
