Spirit Food - February 2019

So here it is – February already! So this month, let’s focus on being established in grace. Hebrews 13:9 says: “Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings; for it is well for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by regulations about food, which have not benefited those who observe them.”

Our Heavenly Father does not want your heart full of worries and fears, tossed and turned by every challenge that comes your way. In fact He says: “Let not be troubled…” (John 14:1) The only one who can do that for you is you! Your pastor can’t, your spouse can’t, or even your best friend can’t, because your will is involved. Our Heavenly Father created you with a free will to make decisions (we are not robots). He wants your heart at rest and to be established by His grace toward you. When you think that the breakthroughs to your challenges depend on your ability to obey God, then your heart will not be at rest. It will be full of worries and anxieties. Why? Because you can never obey God perfectly with the carnal nature we were born with. This is why we became born-again when we accepted Jesus as the Lord of our life.

When you depend on God’s grace, that is, His undeserved, unmerited favor, the opposite happens – your heart becomes established. When you know that the only thing that qualifies you to receive God’s blessings is faith in the finished work of Christ, your heart becomes established. Then, you will walk without the fear of your troubles swallowing you up. You will walk with full assurance that His blessings will be manifested in your life.

Our Heavenly Father desires your heart established, knowing that His righteousness, healing, protection and provision are yours – all paid for by Jesus’ finished work at the cross. His blessings are sure in your life because they are not dependent on your ability to keep His laws, but because Jesus’ perfect obedience.

Under the old covenant, the Israelites receive God’s blessings only if they keep all His laws (see Deuteronomy 28:1–2). If they sinned or failed to keep even one law, they were be disqualified from receiving His blessings. But today, under the new covenant, your sins no longer disqualify you because God Himself has said, “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more” (Hebrews 8:12).

So let your heart be established by and in Our Heavenly Father’s grace. Because of His grace, you have full access to His blessings. You no longer have to worry about whether you are good enough. You can stand firm on the promises made in His Word and enjoy His blessings today, because Jesus has paid the price. Your part is only to believe and receive!

I encourage you to develop a closer relationship with Him by studying, meditating on His Word, and communicating with Him. The Holy Spirit came to live on the inside of you when you accepted Jesus as Lord. He is within you to comfort, teach, lead, and guide you in your daily activities.

Heavenly Father, your Word says in Romans 10:9-10- “that if I confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead, that I would be saved. For with the heart one believes unto salvation.” I believe your Word, Heavenly Father, and confess Jesus Christ (the anointed one and His anointing) as Lord of my life now. I believe that You raised Him from the dead. I confess that I was a sinner, but now I’ve been saved by Your grace, and in Your thoughts, I am now in right standing with You. I denounce Satan and all he stands for. Write my name in the Lamb’s book of Life. In Jesus Name. Amen.
